Therapy & Coaching
Many of us were raised under conditions of worth. To receive love and acceptance as children, we conformed ourselves to the expectations of our caregivers. We compromised our feelings, our creativity, and our edges to be a more pleasing, lovable false self.
This habit of denial can carry into adulthood. We make the choices we think we’re supposed to make. We take the job we’re supposed to have. We marry the person we’re supposed to want. We deny who we are and then are put in the impossible position of acting like it is enough.
For some people, there comes a point when the risk of staying the same suddenly feels far scarier than the risk of change. Even though there is the potential for loss, the rewards for more fully as yourself are are even larger: joy, authentic relationships, creative expression, and meaningful work.
If that authentic life is what you want, but you have no idea how to get there, I have a roadmap and we’ll walk that path together. To that end, I offer a range of mental health-related services including psychotherapy, coaching, assessment, and diagnosis. I maintain active clinical licenses in the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, California, and Virginia.
Research &Evaluation
Do you know if your organization, program, or policy is actually doing what it was designed to do? It may seem like an obvious question, but in my years as a researcher evaluating public programs and policies, I know that the answer to that question is often ‘no.’
Whether your organization is applying for a new grant or answering to a Board of Directors, I believe that what we do in the public arena should be informed by what works. For this reason, I see program and policy evaluation as a critical component of an organization’s overall mission.
As an outside evaluator, I take a relational, pragmatic approach. I get to know the stakeholders — who they are, how they work, where they see problems as well as opportunities. In the process, I collect multiple forms of evidence, including qualitative and quantitative data, to generate a holistic analysis of what is actually happening that can help inform what you do in the future.
Educational Consulting
No one likes accreditation (although for some reason, I sort of do). The ends — a program that ensures your students will be eligible to work in the field when they graduate — are worth the means.
As a counselor educator, I have developed expertise in curriculum development and accreditation having worked on many successful accreditation self-studies (Counseling Accreditation). In addition to higher education accreditation, I also have experience with the OHA and HECC approval processes to become a licensed psilocybin facilitator training program in accordance with Oregon’s Proposition 109.
If you are a new program seeking accreditation or an existing program in need of assistance in navigating a re-accreditation, I can help.
